The Gramercy Arts Weekly, January 16th

The next Parent Association meeting is this Tuesday, January 16, at 5:30 pm in Room 715. All are welcome to come, speak, listen, and get to know fellow parents and families.

Marking period 3 and the fall semester end this coming Friday, January 19. The semester grades go on the permanent transcript that students will use to apply to college.

Report cards for marking period 3 and semester 1 will be distributed on the first day of the spring semester, Tuesday, January 30.

All students who achieve honor roll in marking period 2, marking period 3, or semester 1 are invited to go ice skating at Chelsea Piers on Monday, February 5, at 1:30 pm.

Midterms for Semester 1 will continue this week: English and social studies continue on Tuesday, and science and math are on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Playwriting Showcase will take place this Wednesday, January 17th, at 5:00 pm in the Black Box. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Regents exams start next Monday, January 22.

Mon, Jan 22:  English at 9:15 am and Living Environment at 1:15 pm

Tues, Jan 23: Geometry at 9:15 am, U.S. History at 9:15 am, and Algebra I at 1:15 pm

Wed, Jan 24: Global at 9:15 am and Algebra II 1:15 pm

Thurs, Jan 25: Chemistry at 9:15 am and Theater 1:15 pm

 

Congratulations to Adedoyin Akingba, who is the 2018 recipient of the Mary McLeod Bethune Award, awarded by the UFT in recognition of a teacher’s commitment to equality and demonstration of outstanding achievement inside and outside of the classroom. Ms. Akingba joined Gramercy Arts last year as a Living Environment teacher, and she teaches this year with Ms. Iocovozzi. A Brooklyn native, she has focused her class this year on teaching science through literacy. Ms. Akingba was nominated for this award by Ms. Montanino, and she will be attending an awards ceremony next month to receive it.
