Marking period 1 ends one week from tomorrow–in 6 school days. After this there are 10 school weeks left in the school year. As of today, the school year is exactly 66%—or two-thirds—complete.
Announcement #1: Lunch and Learn today is math and science.
Announcement #2: Today and tomorrow are parent-teacher conferences; they are from 5:30 to 8:00 pm this evening, and from 12:30 to 3:00 pm tomorrow afternoon. You will be dismissed at 11:30 tomorrow morning. Every student needs to be in attendance tomorrow.
Announcement #3: Homework Helper is today after school in Mr. Lilla’s Room, room 719. Snacks will be provided. Come and get your work done and finish major projects and essays as we approach the end of the marking period next week.
Announcement #4: Today during lunch the sixth issue of The Gramercy Times newspaper is being released. This issue focuses on gun violence in the wake of the mass shooting two weeks ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. Get your copy and see how many students said in a wide survey that they intend to participate in the walk-out protest against gun violence next Wednesday.
Announcement #5: Attention all students taking AP tests this year: Your AP tests are now only 9 weeks away. The AP study-group room, Room 741-A, will again an available for groups who want to study as a team for their AP classes. The sign-up sheet is on the door to 741-A. Students who use the room must be studying as a group for their classes. Sign-up is first come, first-served.
Announcement #6: The Library Beautification team meets during lunch today.
Announcement #7: There will be another emergency meeting of all Green Team members in Room 748 at the beginning of lunch today.
Announcement #8: Here are today’s lunch clubs: Girls Who Code meets with Ms. Beck in Room 722, and the Poetry Club meets with Ms. Iocovozzi in Room 745. The Stress Relief Group
meets with Sean from the health center in Room 741 at lunch.
Announcement #9: If you want to create orange tie dye shirts to show your solidarity with students who are protesting gun violence, bring a white 100% cotton t-shirt to Ms. Montanino’s room 749 after school today! Again, tie-dying anti-gun-violence t-shirts will happen in Ms. Montanino’s room after school today in Room 749. Pizza will be provided.
Announcement #10: Rehearsal for HAIR will be from 3 to 4:30 on the 11th floor today after school.
Announcement #11: Congratulations to all the students who auditioned for SGO’s 2018 Talent Show this year. A huge shout out to Olivia Matthews and Aileen Downes and all the newspaper writers for putting out a great sixth issue of of the Gramercy Times. Don’t forget to score you own copy at lunch today!
