Round 2 Auditions are Thursday, March 22nd at 3:30 pm at Gramercy Arts High School.

Students can audition for Visual Arts, Drama or Capstone.

Capstone Scholars

Admittance to the screened Capstone Scholars program is based on course grades, test scores, attendance, and a written assessment.

This college readiness program exposes students to AP courses throughout their four years. Students complete AP exams to earn between 15-30 college credits. Scholars will complete a four-year study of Visual Arts or Performing Arts. In the twelfth grade, students have the opportunity to apply for a “capstone,” or internship, in their arts field.

Fine and Visual Arts

Admittance to the fine and visual arts program is by audition only. See audition days and times on back.

The program includes studio drawing and painting, mixed-media arts, sculpture, photography, digital arts, portfolio art, and art history, as well as internships at art galleries throughout the city.

Audition Information

Prepare a portfolio of 8-15 pieces of original, finished work. Include examples of observational drawings. Complete up to three drawing assignments at the audition. Examples may include the human figure and drawing from observation or imagination. Materials will be provided.

Performing Arts (Theater)

Admittance to the performing arts (Drama and Theater) program is by audition only.

The program includes training in acting, improvisation, playwriting, directing, musical theater, history of theater, and technical theater. Students work with theater professionals and guest artists through residencies with New York City theater companies, and attend multiple shows throughout the year. All students have the opportunity to be a part of the fall play and spring musical—recently Little Shop of Horrors, West Side Story, and Fame.

Audition Information

Perform two contrasting monologues (one minute each). Perform an on-demand dramatic or movement activity (e.g., an impromptu reading from a provided script or improvisation). Wear attire that allows free movement.
